Button Bay

Camel's Hump

- Burrows and Monroe trailhead parking areas often fill up during summer days. Please have a back-up hike planned in case you arrive to find a full parking lot. Parking in an ad-hoc manner can hinder emergency vehicle and neighbors' access.
Coolidge

- Park entrance road is 0.9 miles to the park office. This steep and narrow road is challenging for large trailers and RV’s.
- Black bears are active at Coolidge State Park. When staying at the park, please keep food and coolers in a secured vehicle and place trash, recycling and food scraps in provided bear-proof central disposal containers.

Gifford Woods

- If planning a stay at sites along the lower loop, please note that construction at the adjacent Gifford Woods Maintenance Shop will be ongoing throughout the season and will occur weekdays between 7 a.m. through 5 p.m.

Green River Reservoir

- The boardwalk at Green River Reservoir is undergoing repairs through June. Waterfront access will not be ADA accessible until after the repairs finish.

Jamaica

- The West River Trail is open to the viewing platform at the Dumplings. To access Switch Road and Hamilton Falls, please use the detour via the Overlook Trail which can be access from the upper loop in the campground. Be advised that the landslide on the West River Trail, located beyond the Dumpling viewing platform, remains active and highly hazardous.
- Due to construction at the Ball Mountain Dam the Army Corps is hosting the release on May 3 and 4. Jamaica State Park will open for camping Friday, May 16. Prior to opening, visitors are welcome to use the park for day activities, including accessing the West River Trail and paddling on the West River.

- The weight limit on the Depot Street Bridge leading into the park has a weight limit of 8 tons with no exceptions. Please be sure the total weight of your vehicle and RV does not exceed the limit.

- A timber harvest is beginning the week of December 16th and will continue through the winter. Logging trucks will be present along the road and Dalley Road near the History Hike. Area B will not be available for off season camping. There will be signage along the road and in the campground.

Mount Ascutney

- The park has recently undergone a harvest of ash trees to proactively manage for visitor safety due to the effects of Emerald ash borer (EAB). In the short-term, the removal of ash trees has led to a visual change in the forested areas of this park. Over the next few years, new trees will sprout, targeted plantings will occur, and existing trees will expand their canopies to fill in the gaps.

Mount Philo

- UVM Cycling will be racing up the mountain road April 20th, 2025. The park will remain open during this event.

Underhill

- The first pedestrian bridge on the Sunset Ridge Trail - closest to the trailhead/register box sign-in - is temporarily closed. Please follow the flagged trail until further notice.
- The Underhill State Park parking lot is currently undergoing construction. Please be aware of trucks actively working in the lot and be prepared to park roadside. Campers will be given priority of available spaces nearest the campsites.
- Due to limited parking capacity, carpooling to Underhill State Park is recommended. In times of peak visitation, visitors may need to park along Mountain Road below the State Park entrance.
